Today, Thursday, September 11, 2025, Gaylan Haji Saeed, President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of Khalil Goran and Kamaran Mohammad Saleh, members of the Chamber's Executive Council, welcomed a delegation from Basra Province headed by Hisham Al-Ameri, Deputy Governor of Basra.
The delegation consisted of a member of Basra Provincial Council, President of Basra Chamber of Commerce, President of Basra Chamber of Industry, President of Basra Employers' Union, and several other officials from that province.
In a meeting, discussions were held regarding the commercial situation and establishing relations and coordination between both sides with the aim of serving the commercial and economic sector in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
In this meeting, Gaylan Haji Saeed, President of the Chamber, highlighted the problems and difficulties facing the economic and commercial sector in the Kurdistan Region, which have been placed as major obstacles by the federal government in front of merchants and factory owners in the Kurdistan Region, and hoped that the guest delegation would cooperate in solving this problem.
The guest delegation announced that due to the problems and difficulties facing the commercial and economic sector in the Kurdistan Region, merchants and business owners in Basra city have been affected in the same way, and they emphasized solving these problems.
Also in the meeting, the success of holding the (Basra Commercial Salon for Development) was discussed, which was organized under the supervision of GIZ institution, and both sides agreed to organize the (Erbil Salon) in coordination with the Erbil Chamber of Commerce in the near future.
