Today, Tuesday, 3/4/2025, Kamaran Salah Bajger and Marouf Azizxan Harki, Vice Presidents of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, along with Lawend Mamundi and Ibrahim Muhammad Gerdi, members of the Chamber's Administrative Council, received Rafael Vsisian, the new Acting Consul General of Armenia in Erbil.
During the meeting, further development of trade and economic relations between Armenia and the Kurdistan Region was emphasized.
The new Armenian Consul highlighted the trade relations between Armenia and the Kurdistan Region, stating that the volume of trade exchange between Iraq and Armenia in 2024 amounted to 250 million dollars, with more than 90% of this figure attributed to the Kurdistan Region.
The Consul added, "We are working on increasing the volume of trade exchange, offering all facilities and coordination for merchants and business owners who are members of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry to travel to Armenia for business purposes."
For his part, Kamaran Salah Bajger, Vice President of the Chamber, congratulated the new Consul and wished him success, expressing hope that trade and economic relations between Armenia and the Kurdistan Region would develop further during his term.
The Vice President of the Chamber said, "As the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we are ready to provide all kinds of support, coordination, and organization of business meetings for Armenian companies and business owners who visit the Kurdistan Region."
The meeting also focused on the participation of trade delegations in international exhibitions and economic events of both sides. Part of this meeting was dedicated to discussing the development of the tourism sector and the continuation of direct air routes between both sides throughout all four seasons of the year.
