Today, Monday, October 13, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, in the presence of Geylan Haji Saeed, President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kameran Mohammed Salih, member of the Chamber's Executive Council, the Mayor of Erbil, and the Deputy Governors, received a high-level delegation from Turkey's Şırnak Province.
The guest delegation consisted of Birol Ekici, Governor of Şırnak, Osman Çeliş, President of the Şırnak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ömer Faruk, President of the Cizre Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Mayor, and several other officials from that province.
During the visit of the guest delegation, which was accompanied by the Turkish Consul General in Erbil, they were warmly welcomed. In a meeting held at the Erbil Governorate Office, the commercial and cultural relations between both Erbil and Şırnak provinces were highlighted.
Birol Ekici, Governor of Şırnak, said: We have a strong relationship with the Kurdistan Region in all fields, and we emphasize deepening our relations further. At the beginning of next month, he extended an invitation to the Governor and attendees to visit Şırnak.
Osman Çeliş, President of the Şırnak Chamber of Commerce and Industry, announced: In terms of commercial exchange, relations are progressing and we are making greater efforts to advance this relationship. We are working to develop all sectors, especially the tourism sector, between both sides.
Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, expressed his happiness with this visit. The Governor highlighted the commercial relations between both sides and described them as a successful relationship.
The Governor of Erbil said: Thanks to our shared culture, we have been able to advance all sectors.
Geylan Haji Saeed, President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the percentage of Turkish investors and companies in the Kurdistan Region, and hoped that more companies and investors would turn to Erbil, and we as a Chamber, within the framework of regulations, provide support and assistance to them.
In this meeting as well, issues related to border crossings and traders were raised with the aim of resolving them and advancing relations.
After the meeting, the attendees accompanied the guest delegation to visit the Qaysari Bazaar and Erbil Citadel.
