Today, Sunday 12/17/2024, at the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry building, in the presence of Dr. Mohammed Shahab, supervisor of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Kurdistan Region, Gailan Haji Saeed, President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Kamaran Salah Bajgar and Marouf AzizKhan Herky, Vice Presidents, board members, advisors, directors, and all employees, a ceremonial event was held to mark Kurdistan Flag Day.
Gaylan Haji Saeed, the Chamber's President, delivered a speech on this occasion, which reads as follows:

We hope that next year we will commemorate this sacred day with the Kurdish people having achieved all their sublime aspirations peacefully.
A flag is the symbol and identity of nations and their existence. Today, every people and nation, whether with an independent state or without, has its own flag.
78 years ago, the Kurdistan flag was officially raised for the first time under the name of the Kurdistan State in the Republic of Kurdistan at Chaharchira Square in Mahabad city, on the municipal building by the martyr leader Qazi Mohammed in the presence of the immortal Barzani, and under this sacred banner. In the same year, our beloved leader Massoud Barzani was bestowed upon the Kurdish people by the Almighty.
After the fall of the Kurdistan Republic at the hands of Kurdish enemies, this flag was handed over by the martyr leader Qazi Mohammed to the father of the Kurdish nation's spirit, the immortal Barzani, and until today it has been preserved as a symbol and emblem of the Kurdish nation and officially used in the Kurdish revolutions.
The Kurdistan Parliament decided to mark December 17 of each year as Flag Day, so that generations and sons do not forget the greatness of their flag and strive to keep it raised.

On this sacred day, the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry commemorates Flag Day with great pride. The flag under which many Peshmerga heroes have been martyred and sacrificed.
On this occasion, we find it necessary to emphasize the national values of land, flag, and homeland. As always, we consider ourselves servants of this flag and our homeland. The Kurdistan flag is the slogan of unity and victory of the Kurdish people, and we will surely raise and protect it with confidence.
