Erbil: On 04.01.2017 , Dr. Dara Jalil Khayat the President of Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, welcomed Mr. Park Young Kiu the South Korean Republic Consul General in Erbil, to discuss the development of the commercial relations between Erbil and South Korean Republic. 

In a meeting, attended by a number of members of board directors, the sides discussed the consolidation of the participation of South Korean companies and industrialists in Kurdistan markets and reconstruction process. 

The Korean Consul General stated that his visit is aimed at strengthening of ties. And he emphasized that the opening of the South Korean Consulate was very important for the sides, only during the past year they have granted 300 visa entries to Kurdistan citizens whom that visited South Korea. 

Park Young Kiev indicated to the complicated financial and war situation because of ISIS war ,said: We have knowledge that the Kurds could have pass through much more difficult times but  they overtaken. I am sure that this situation is temporary it will be ended. We are us South Korean will continue our support and building more relations. 

Dr. Khayat said : The history of commercial relations between Kurdistan and South Kora is dating back to the 80th of the last century, but because of the goods high prices and Saddams regime polices beside the advance of China in the global markets these relations were faded out. Then, after the fall of the regime, in the beginning of 2004 those relations have been newly revived until now they are in a continuous growing. 

He said: The opening of the Consulate General was a steppingstone towards more strengthening especially in the fields of trade and economy. 

He also indicated that currently the South Korean motors and electronic devises are topping in the markets of Kurdistan. 

The president of the Chamber hoped the consulate to organize visits for South Korean trade delegates to Kurdistan Region, as the Chamber is ready to offer facilitations, to introduce to Kurdistan businessmen and they be able to witness closely the security and stability in the Region, participate in Kurdistan International Fairs , they cold also hold a private exhibition for Their products .

Lastly, the South Korean Consul General thanked the president of the Chamber for this proposals and promised to work on them.
